Iraqi papers and Saudi Arabia, Kuwait
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 6/6/2001

The Iraqi dailies issued on Tuesday criticized the announcement made by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait their readiness to compensate for the cutting the crude Iraqi oil from world market after the decision taken by Baghdad to halt the exportation of its oil, noting that this Saudi and Kuwaiti decision complies with the anti-Iraqi American position.

The Iraqi daily al-Dadeseyah said that the statements made by the Saudi and Kuwaiti rulers, started since the escalation of " the American, British and Zionist fever to promote the fool American sanctions proposal constitute a flagrant attempt to implement these sanctions," noting that these statements came at directives that came from Washington to foil any stand to be adopted by Iraq.

The Iraqi paper also criticized the position taken by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC in their recent meeting concerning Iraq, noting that the GCC ministers " were trying to sing by cancer- infected American throat as they were taking about Iraq, while Iran was violating the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates and making military maneuvers on the occupied lands of the UAE."

However, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had announced their readiness to compensate for the exports of the Iraqi oil Baghdad halted on Monday.
