Morocco in U.N meeting on human settlements
Morocco-Regional, Environment, 6/5/2001
Morocco will participate in a special session of the United Nations General Assembly on human settlements, to be held June 6-8 in New York.
The session will review and appraise implementation of the Habitat Agenda worldwide, organizers said.
In assessing progress toward the Habitat Agenda commitments and strategies, all Member States of the United Nations were invited to prepare a report on national and local implementation of the Habitat Agenda, reflecting the views of the government and of its partners.
"All partners of the Habitat Agenda, including local authorities, the private sector and communities, should regularly monitor and evaluate their own performance in the implementation of the Habitat Agenda through comparable human settlements and shelter indicators and documented best practices...," they said.
Morocco will be represented by territory development, town planning, housing and environment minister, Mohamed Yazghi.
Morocco is among the 16 countries chosen by the United Nations to present their experience in implementing housing projects.
