Moussa: Israel will pay a heavy price for any military adventure
Regional-Israel, Politics, 6/5/2001
The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa has stressed that Israel will pay a heavy price for any military adventure it will take, noting that the aggression of 1967 will not be repeated, calling on Sharon" to erase illusion from his head."
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Watan issued on Monday Moussa indicated that Sharon seeks to impose opportunities of his special " peace" neglecting Arab rights. He said that the Arabs have to refuse that and not to give Israel the right to occupy Jerusalem and building the settlements.
He added that Israel has greedy ambitions in the waters of the Palestinians and the Syrians and seeks to steel Arab waters, a matter which was refused totally by the late Syrian President hafez al-Assad.
He noted the importance of waters at the Arab and regional levels.
Moussa added that it is ripe time to establish a new Arab order that copes with the requirements of the age "in which we do live," stressing that there are not still Arabs who hurry towards Israel and what happened in Mauritania is an exception and should be dealt with, noting in this regard to the decision taken to halting all contacts with Israel as far as it continued its aggressive policy.
Moussa also indicated the importance of the electricity grid project between Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, noting that a similar project will be carried out between Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria.
