Morocco, France to upgrade cooperation in new information technologies
Morocco-France, Economics, 6/4/2001
Morocco and France agreed to upgrade their cooperation in matters of posts, administration online, and new information technologies at large.
The decision was made by the Moroccan-French joint committee on posts, telecommunications and information technologies, which held its 10th session in Rabat June 1-2.
The two sides also agreed to grant priority to the teaching of information technologies, generalize access to internet and the use of E-trade and ponder on telecommunications regulation.
The two sides will sign by September 2001 an addendum to the protocol of agreement concluded in 1996, so that the protocol covers new information technologies.
The 10th session of the committee, set up in 1982, was co-chaired by French secretary of state to industry, Christian Pierret, and Moroccan secretary of state in charge of posts and telecommunication and information technologies, Nasr Hajji.
Moroccan-French cooperation in the sector of telecommunication and new information technologies was discussed at a meeting in Rabat Friday between the French official and Moroccan Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.
