Athletics: Morocco's Khattabi wins 3000 steeple at Portland meet

Moroccan athlete Elarbi Khattabi on Sunday won the 3000 m steeple race at Portland athletics meet, part of the IAAF grand Prix. Khattabi, 34, ran the distance in 8:12.95 ahead of Kenyan Stephen Cherono (8:22.98) and American Anthony Famiglietti (8:23.20).
Another Moroccan participating in the meet, Mohamed Amyn, came in fourth in the 3000 m race with a timing of 7:49.26 behind Kenyans Luke Kipkosgei (7:48.50) and Daniel Cachera (7:49.13) and American Alan Culpepper (7:49.25).
