King Mohammed congratulations to Islamic heads of state on Prophet's birthday
Morocco-Regional, Religion, 6/4/2001
As the Islamic nation is commemorating the Eid-Al-Mawlid Annaboui Asharif (birthday of the prophet Mohammed), king Mohammed VI sent Islamic heads of sates the following congratulations message:
"Assalamu Alaikum,
As We are celebrating the blessed Mawlid Nabawi, commemorating the birth of our holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him), it gives me pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes of good health and happiness, hoping for your people to achieve progress and prosperity under your enlightened leadership.
This auspicious occasion is not only bringing on to the Ummah the light of guidance from the shining message of Islam and the inspiring words and deeds of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him), but it is also reminding us of the ideals and lofty moral values which Islam brought to humanity as a whole. Today, there is a pressing need for the Ummah to cling to those values and ideals, so that the world may understand that Islam is indeed a religion of tolerance and moderation; that it calls for a righteous, morally flawless attitude towards the others. It further insists that truth and piousness should be made to prevail in all deeds and dealings.
These renewed commemorations rekindle within all of us the hope that tomorrow is going to be better, as Muslim peoples will have overcome their differences, closed this ranks, enhanced their cooperation ties and acquired the ability to meet all the challenges lying ahead.
I pray Almighty God to help us in our effort to fulfill the expectations of our people and their aspirations for progress, prosperity and sustainable development. May Allah grant that the Ummah recovers the status it deserves as a proud and dignified nation and that the scourges of sinful occupation and unfair blockade are lifted off Muslim peoples who are still suffering, first and foremost among them the valiant Palestinian people.
Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration."
