Khaddam in good health conditions
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 6/4/2001

Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam collapsed on Sunday in Lebanon while he was giving a speech at a ceremony held to commemorate the 14th death anniversary of the former Lebanese Prime minister Rashid Karami in the Lebanese city of Tripoli.

Lebanese medical sources said that Khaddam was admitted to al-Neini hospital in Tripoli and that he is in a good health condition.

The Lebanese minister of health Dr. Karam Karam, who personally supervised the medical treatment of Khaddam said that Khaddam's " health condition is stable and he is in a good health condition."

The Lebanese minister explained that Khaddam's collapse was a result of a pain stomach and therefore because of the simple symptoms he only stayed for few hours in the hospital.

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud made a telephone call to learn about the health condition of Khaddam and Khaddam was also visited at the hospital by the Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri and by the speaker of parliament Nabhi Berri.
