A call in the Egyptian parliament to prevent the entry of Shimon Peres
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 6/4/2001
Several members of the Egyptian parliament had made a proposal which was the first of its kind in the history of the parliament aiming to prevent the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres from entering the Egyptian territories.
The proposal, which was prepared by members of parliaments Muhammad al-Bader Sheni and Haidar Baghdadi for the Nasserite Party, Mahfouz Helmi, Ali Labban and Ali fatah al-Bab for the Muslims brothers, Muhammad Abdul Aleem and Mahmoud al-Chazli for the Egyptian al-Wafd party, al-Badri Farghali for the coalition party and Atif al- Ashmouni for the national party said that the flagrant criticism made by Peres against the political leaders of Egypt and its diplomats and his attempts to distort the image of Egypt, all put him ( Peres ) among the list of persona non grata who visit Egypt.
