Egypt is to export to Indonesia cotton, phosphate, fertilizers
Egypt-Indonesia, Economics, 6/2/2001
Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid will submit a report to President Hosni Mubarak on the outcome of the G-15 summit, following his return from Jakarta.
Ebied, head of Egypt's delegation to the G-15 summit, Thursday witnessed the signing ceremony of an accord for developing trade exchange between Egypt and Indonesia.
The accord came within the context of cooperation among the gathering member states with a view to enhancing economic ties among them.
Signatories to the accord were Egyptian Economy and Foreign Trade Minister Youssef Botros Ghali, member of the delegation accompanying Ebeid, and Indonesian Industry and Trade Minister Luhut B. Panjaitan.
Under this accord, Egypt is to export to Indonesia cotton and its products, phosphate, fertilizers and some agricultural crops.
"Egypt, by the virtue of this accord, is to import from Indonesia, oil, paper, timber and palm oil," said Director of Asia Department at the trade representation body Zeinab Morssi.
Putting this accord into force will help double the volume of trade exchange three times between the two countries over the coming two years, she added.
Egyptian exports to Indonesia last year were estimated at dlrs 122 million, while imports from Indonesia in the same year were to the tune of about $1997.
