Israeli police interrogates Azmi Beshara
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/31/2001
The Israeli police on Wednesday interrogated the Arab member in the Israeli Knesset Azmi Beshara in the case of helping the Arab citizens to meet with their relatives in Syria, a matter which is considered by the Israeli authorities as "organizing visits to an enemy country."
In a statement issued by his office, Beshara considered his being interrogated as a " new chain in the series of the political terrorism that the Palestinian national trend inside Palestine is exposed to."
The statement added that Beshara has not responded to the questions raised by the Israeli investigators because he considered organizing of the visits as a humanitarian work and confined to assert his responsibility; legally and at the humanitarian level for these visits.
