Rally of support to Palestinian cause in Morocco
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 5/31/2001
A rally of solidarity and support to the Palestinian cause and the Al-Aqsa intifadah was held Wednesday in Rabat by the regional section of the Party for Justice and Development (PJD).
Participants in the rally called for "a psychological intifadah" that would liberate from defeatism and spread a culture of Resistance and Jihad (holy war) and outlined "that struggle against the Zionist enemy is a permanent cause that must be constantly upheld by Muslims and Arabs."
They called for "opposition to all forms of normalization with the Zionist entity, denounced Israel as a warmonger and stressed the need to carry on backing to the Palestinians in their legitimate struggle against the Israeli war machine."
The Casablanca local committee of the Moroccan association of support to the Palestinian struggle will stage on June 10 in Casablanca a march of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
A statement by the committee said the march is held "in solidarity with the Palestinian people, prey to the extermination war, which is waged by the Zionists and which uses internationally banned lethal weapons."
The committee called for an immediate international protection of the Palestinian people and for backing to their right to return to their homeland and to establish an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
In another development, secretary general of the Arab scout organization, Faouzi Mahmoud Farghali, called on scout associations in all Arab states to collect funds, blankets, clothes and drugs to back the intifadah.
In a statement to MAP, Farghali, whose organization marked on May 26 the national scout day, denounced the Israeli aggressions against the unarmed Palestinian people.
Several Moroccan parties and trade unions have organized rallies to renew backing to the Palestinian intifadah and Moroccan scouts will stage next June 24 in Rabat a march of support to the Palestinian children.
