Chairman of Arab Human Rights Organization in Rabat
Morocco-Regional, Politics, 5/31/2001
Chairman of the Arab human rights organization, Mohamed Faik, is currently visiting Morocco for talks on the Moroccan experience in human rights matters.
Faik conferred on Wednesday with Moroccan minister of human rights, Mohamed Aujjar, on Morocco's efforts to consolidate human rights and enlarge the scope of their enforcement.
In a statement to the Moroccan TV channel TVM, Faik said his visit is meant to share data and experience, underlining the importance of the Moroccan experience in the field.
He noted that Morocco is the first Arab state that witnessed an alternation in power-- bringing to power leftist opposition parties after decades of right-wing rule. The Moroccan experience must be closely followed, he insisted.
