Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak met late Sunday with African children and youth participating in the African conference on the future of childhood.

Fifty African children and youth aging between 8 to 18 are participating in the four-day event that began on Monday.

Egypt's first lady welcomed the African youth and children and described the meeting as very important. She-voiced-hope that African children and young men would have their own rights and lead a prosperous life.

Mrs. Mubarak said that problems facing African juniors such as malnutrition, poverty and health problems negatively affect the whole African societies.

Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood Moshira Khattab said that this dialogue will help in acquainting us with the African children's opinions and ideas.

The African young people and children spoke of different problems such as youths' engagement in the development projects, children's involvement in disputes, protecting children from violence, fighting diseases and promoting education.

Ahmad Mustafa,an Egyptian kid, said that education is the sole way for development. He called on governments to give due attention to education for a better Africa.

Mrs. Mubarak voiced satisfaction with the dialogue and said that they (the speaking children) managed to highlight all problems facing youth and children, to set solutions and all is needed is to put them into effect.
