Egyptian authorities investigate cases of 75 poisoned children
Egypt, Local, 5/28/2001
Egyptian authorities are investigating the cases of 75 poisoned children in the Bardean town in al-Sharquah governorate.
The poisoning was apparently caused by expired ice-cream, local press quoted health authorities as saying.
Statistics showed that 23 children were rescued and 52 still under treatment in hospital, said the Egyptian press.
Egyptian health ministry announced a state of emergency to face the large number of infections. Local authorities will also conduct an inclusive scan for the town to ensure no epidemic situation and analyze drinking water.
