Athletics: el Guerrouj wins the mile race at Eugene meet

Moroccan athlete Hicham El Guerrouj Sunday won the mile race at the prefontaine Classic athletics meet, part of the IAAF Grand Prix, held in Eugene, Oregon.
The 1500 m world champ and record holder ran the mile in 3:49.92, ahead of Canadian Kevin Sullivan (3:51.82) and Kenyan Bernard Lagat (3:53.14).
In the same race, Moroccans Adil kaouch and Youssef Baba ranked 4th and 9th with a respective timing of 3:53.40 and 3:55.10.
In the 5000 m race, Moroccans Said Berrioui and Said El Wardi came in 6th and 9th respectively with a timing of 13:26.56 and 13:32.95. The three first ranks were all held by kenyans, Luke Kipkosgei, leonard Mucheru and Abraham Chebii.
