More killings in Algeria

Once again the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika interfered on Sunday to end the acts of violence which erupted recently in al- Qabayel (tribes) area in protest of the government delay in punishing members of the police responsible for the acts of disorder erupted a month earlier and resulted in killing 51 persons and wounding 1200.

In a speech he delivered on Sunday in a religious occasion the Algerian president added he will punish those who are behind these acts.

The Algerian president was quoted as saying that he will strongly punish those who are behind these regrettable events regardless to their positions; adding that the punishment will be in line with the results of the investigations to be carried out by a national investigations committee he decided to form on fact finding in these incidents.

On Saturday; an official Algerian source announced that the confrontations which erupted in April following the killing of a teenager at the police headquarters near Tezi Ozo; the greater city in al-Qabayel resulted in killing one policeman and 1300 wounded.
