UK textiles supplier opens warehouse and plant in rabat

British industrial sewing thread specialist "Donisthorpe" opened on Friday a new warehouse and finishing plant in Oulja, industrial area near Rabat.
Donisthorpe opened its first Moroccan warehouse in 1997 and since then has built a loyal customer base of over 100 British and Moroccan manufacturer. With a turnover of 50 million DH in threads alone (16.7 DH equal one pound), it is currently one of the most successful US operation in Morocco, says a statement of the British embassy in Morocco.
The group employs 170 people at their office in the UK and its Oulja warehouse and plant extends over 1,550 square meters.
The British embassy statement recalls that UK-Moroccan trade tripled during the 1990s. In 2000, Moroccan exports to the US increased by 18% and imports by 15%. Morocco is now becoming the UK's fastest growing market in the Maghreb and the UK is now Morocco's third largest export market.
In 2000, British exports to Morocco totaled 6.7 billion Dirhams and imports were worth 7.7 billion DH.
