Moroccan scouts stage march of solidarity with Palestinian children in June
Morocco-Palestine, Culture, 5/25/2001

Moroccan scouts will stage next June 24 in Rabat a march for peace and in support of the Palestinian children.

The announcement was made by chairman-delegate of the Moroccan royal scout federation, Mohamed Afilal, who told MAP the federation will call all Moroccan children and youth to participate in the march to voice backing to the children of the intifada in the ordeal they are going through to claim their right to life.

In a bid to foster international awareness to the seriousness of the situation in Palestine, children will send E-mail messages to friends, relatives, civil society, institutions, political parties, international organizations, governments, embassies and media, he said.

The federation, he added, has called Muslims, Arabs, humanitarian organizations and human rights activists to mobilize on June 24 for the establishment of world peace through dialogue and for fostering awareness to the Palestinian cause.

Earlier this week, the Moroccan trade union, L'Union Marocaine du Travail (UMT), and the Moroccan association of support to the Palestinian people, organized a rally on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the nakba and called the Moroccan labor class to extend material backing to the intifada and to deposit funds in the bank account opened to this end by the association.

The rally called for extending international protection to the Palestinian people and suing Zionist war criminals and appealed for stopping all forms of normalization with Israel, especially at the economic scales.
