Morocco's electricity utility to service four production units in Senegal
Morocco-Senegal, Economics, 5/25/2001

General manager of Morocco's electricity office (ONE), Driss Benhima, announced in Dakar Thursday that ONE will transfer to Dakar and service four electricity production units, of 20 megawatts each.

Benhima told MAP office in Dakar following a meeting with Senegalese president, Abdoulay Wade, the four units, currently operating in Tangiers and Tetuan, northern Morocco, will be transferred to Dakar to help the Senegalese electricity utility increase its production capacity.

Benhima, who was member of the delegation that accompanied king Mohammed VI in his official visit to Senegal (May 22-23), said the move is a fraternity and cooperation gesture on the part of ONE. The Senegalese electricity company (SENELEC) is often suffering from a production deficit, especially in rainy seasons, resulting in power cuts.
