Al-Shara, Hamdan discuss works of the Doha's OIC summit
Syria-United Arab Emirates, Politics, 5/25/2001

A telephone call was made on Thursday evening between the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and the United Arab Emirates UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

Talks during the telephone call dealt with the agenda of the conference of the foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC due to be held in Doha on Saturday.

"View points between Syria and the UAE were identical on the need of having a united Islamic position to support the Palestinian Intifada, condemning the brutal attacks conducted by Israel in the occupied Arab lands and the firm stand of Arabs and Muslims in backing Syria and Lebanon in confrontation of any possible Israeli attacks against the Israeli attacks." Sheikh Hamdan has called on the participants in the emergency meeting of the OIC foreign ministers in Doha tomorrow to take a strong position to stop the Palestinian blood- shed.

In a statement he made on Thursday, the UAE minister also called for a strong position towards the US which backs the Israeli aggression against the unarmed Palestinians and permits the use of its sophisticated weapons against the Palestinians who defend their lands and rights by stones.
