Lebanon today celebrates the first anniversary of the great victory against the Israeli invading forces..

May 25, 2000 is a turning point not only in the history of Lebanon rather at the Arab level, as the fleeing of the Israeli soldiers from South Lebanon in the morning of that day became unprecedented military and economic phenomenon, in embodying a decisive victory of a people's resistance against a regular army which owns a huge military arsenal and the most destructive weapons in the Middle East region.

Despite the Israeli attempts to ensure intensive presence for its soldiers and reinforcement throughout 22 years, Israel was obliged to evacuate its positions within two days. The dilemma in which some 2500 members of the pro- Israeli Lahd hireling militias found themselves in revealed the real crisis that hit Israel.

How was the Lebanese national resistance born ? In a hot day of August 1982, before the departure of the Palestinian forces from Lebanon, very few leading figures of the Palestinian resistance and the Lebanese national movement studied prevailing conditions and agreed to form moving fighting groups to chase the Israeli army in the occupied Lebanese areas and to hit its troops as well as to organize a war of "Ansar "( partisans) against the Israeli presence in Lebanon.

On 16 September, 1982, the day when the Israeli army broke into West Beirut, following the assassination of the Lebanese President elect Bashir al-Jemayel, the ( then) secretary general of the central committee of the Lebanese communist party George Hawi and the secretary general of the Communist labor organization met and issued a call on the Lebanese which called for carrying the weapons and unify the ranks in the " Lebanese national resistance front." This call was broadcast on 17 September 1982 when the Israeli forces broke into Beirut. It read" " Brave people of Beirut. Great people of Lebanon in the south, the mountain, the Bekaa and the north. Brave nationalist fighters. The Israeli enemy which continues its brutal war against Lebanon since more than 104 days starts today to break into Beirut.. So, Let's carry the arms to continue the heroic steadfastness in defense of Beirut and the Mount. In defense of the south, the Bekaa and the north. Weapons is an organization for the Lebanese national resistance against occupation."

This very statements marked the actual birthday of the " Lebanese national resistance front." Just few days the military statement no.

One was issued from the front and it read:" on Tuesday morning of September 21, 1982, few days from the Israeli invaders entering the first Arab capital falls under occupation after Jerusalem, a group from the national resistance front forces attacked on Monday night the Israeli occupation soldiers in al-Sanae' district by bombs and as a result some 8 Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded and ambulances hurried to the site of the incident. Members of the resistance group returned safe to their position. This very operation is part of the struggle mounted by nationalist fighters in order to expel the occupation from the homeland."
