A Lebanese border town removed by Israel to be rebuilt by its citizens
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 5/25/2001
Several members of the Lebanese border town with Israel "Hounin"- which is one of the seven Lebanese villages annexed to Palestine in 1923 when borders were demarcated between the French and British mandates, have already started their contacts to prepare a building up- promotional project to found buildings on the part of this village which is situated within the Lebanese territories and among the measures is to renovate the old buildings.
Hounin's people charity society is making contact with the town's people, on the one hand, and with the official sides on the other in order to re-build the town on its Lebanese side. This site adjoins al-Abbad's position in South Lebanon, and along the part which is annexed to Israel where Israel has built " Margaliot " settlement.
However, some 3 million square meters of the territories of the said town was annexed to almost 2.6 million square meters which is the area that comes next to al-Houla town in Marjyoun district which was restored back from Israel after drawing the blue line, besides several citizens had bought areas of the adjoining lands and annexed to this village.
Hounin's landscape extends from the Fatmah Gate to the outskirts the two border towns of al-Odeiseh and Houla until al-Abbad position which Lebanon and Israel share and in this position the UNIFIL are stationed.
