A Euro-Mediterranean virtual university will be set up at the beginning of 2002, announced in Rabat Tuesday chairman of the Mediterranean network of engineers' schools, Philippe Zanin.
The university, to be set up in cooperation between 15 countries, seeks to establish a performing training system, based on knowledge transfer in key sectors of economic and social development in the Mediterranean, Zanin explained at a colloquium on the engineer's training and integration in economy, held on the sidelines of the 5th general assembly of the Mediterranean network of engineers' schools.
The training to be dispensed by the virtual university will focus on new information and communication technologies and on enterprise creation and management. It will target student-engineers, staff of small and medium enterprises and teachers.

The Mediterranean network of engineers' schools, launched in 1997, gathers 29 higher engineers schools and technology universities from Mediterranean countries. The Moroccan Mohammedia Engineers School (EMI) is member of the network.
