Red carpet welcome to King Mohammed in Dakar

Moroco's King Mohammed VI was given a red carpet welcome at his arrival Tuesday in Dakar for a two-day official visit, at the invitation of President Abdoulaye Wade.

Upon arrival at the Leopolod Sedar Senghor airport, the king accompanied by Princess Lalla Hasna and a large official delegation, was welcomed by president Wade, his spouse, Mrs. Viviane Wade and the prime minister, Mrs Mame Madior Boye. He was also greeted by the members of the Senegalese cabinet, the Arab and African ambassadors in Dakar and other civil and military personalities.

The two African heads of state then drove to the presidential palace, among the cheers of the Senegalese citizens and Senegal-settled Moroccans who lined up along the avenue crossed by the official cortege.

King Mohammed VI who is undertaking his first official visit to a sub-Saharan country was later guest to a dinner hosted in his honor by the Senegalese president.

On Wednesday, the king visited the memorial of the dead where he laid a wreath of flowers in tribute to soldiers killed in wars. King Mohammed VI held on Wednesday the first round of talks with Senegalese president, Abdoulaye Wade, at the sovereign's residence in Dakar.

Talks took place in the presence of Moroccan and Senegalese ministers and officials.
