On Israeli threats to Syria

The United Arab Emirates UAE daily "Akhbar al-Arab " said that the Israeli threats against both Syria and Lebanon had exceeded what are called messages and warnings into real threats for aggressions.

In its Tuesday's commentary the paper indicated views of certain political analysts and observers on that Syria had actually retaliated, through two main incidents, the recent Israeli aggression against a position for the Syrian forces in Lebanon. The first was sending weapons to the Palestinian Intifada in a boat seized by the Israelis and the second was the explosion took place in the occupied Syrian territories.

The paper indicated the conviction of the Syrian leadership that the international situation and the internal situation in Israel do not permit Sharon to declare a comprehensive war as well as Syria's ability to launch an armed resistance inside the occupied Syrian territories, besides the ability of the Lebanese resistance to strike Israeli position in the heart of Israel.
