Mubarak called for American effective role to halt aggression against on Palestinians
Egypt-USA, Politics, 5/21/2001

In an urgent message from President Mubarak to US President George Bush, Egypt has called on the US Administration to take urgent measures for halting flagrant Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

Egypt's Ambassador in Washington Nabil Fahmy said that President Mubarak's message to President Bush came at the time when the US Administration is facing intensive domestic and foreign pressure for taking more effective stance in order to avoid further deterioration.

Many politicians and diplomats in Washington said that it would be useless if the US Administration restricted its stance to making appeals for halting violence.

A democratic representative said that Bush Administration should play more effective role for pushing forward the peace process.

He said without an effective US leadership, acts of violence would not stop in the Middle East.
