Ghanaian president winds up visit to Morocco

President John Kufuor of Ghana left Fez Saturday at the end of a visit to Morocco. President Kufuor paid an official visit to Morocco May 15-16 at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, that was followed by a private visit in Casablanca, Marrakesh and Fez.
President Kufuor held talks with King Mohammed VI and was guest to a dinner banquet hosted in his honor by the sovereign.
In a final communiqu? released at the end of the official visit, Morocco and Ghana expressed satisfaction over the relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation existing between the two brotherly peoples and vowed to enhance these relations.
The two Heads of State examined at length the state of bilateral relations and had a broad exchange of views on issues of common interest at the regional and international levels, the communiqu? said, adding that the two heads of state decided to reopen their respective embassies in the two capitals. They also expressed satisfaction over the setting up of a joint commission of cooperation chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries and issued instructions for the holding of its first session the soonest.
Regarding the situation in Africa, the two Heads of State noted, with satisfaction, the great progress made by the African continent towards achieving democratization, economic and social development and expressed deep concern over the persistence of tension and armed conflicts in several parts of the African continent. They reiterated their appeal to the international community to exert the necessary efforts, in consultation with African countries, for the restoration of peace, security and stability in the continent.
They also voiced preoccupation over the scale of pandemic diseases that seriously hinder a lasting development of Africa.
