Arafat approves Syrian proposal

The Qatari daily al-Watan issued on Sunday said in a report for its correspondent in Damascus that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat approved the Syrian proposal calling for linking the Palestinian track to the Syrian and Lebanese track within the framework of a sort of strategic cooperation between the three sides.
The paper quoted an official source in the Palestinian opposition as saying that there is an official notification to this effect that was crystallized during contacts between Syria and the Palestinian Authority and will be officially signed during Arafat's visit to Damascus in the coming weeks.
