Speaker of Hungarian parliament in Morocco

Speaker of the Hungarian parliament, Oser Janos, is currently visiting Morocco for talks with Moroccan officials and members of parliament on means to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The Speaker of the Hungarian parliament conferred Thursday with Moroccan Premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, on the reforms being introduced by Hungary and the coming phases of negotiations with the European Union on Hungary's integration in the Union. These negotiations are to wind up in 2002.

During the meeting, Youssoufi underlined the interest Morocco grants to enhancing its relations with Hungary which will shortly become member of the European Union, a statement b y the Prime Minister's office said.

Talks also covered the latest developments of Morocco's territorial integrity and Euro-Mediterranean relations.

Oser Janos, who started his five-day visit to Morocco Tuesday, the first of the kind in an Arab country, also conferred with the speakers of the two chambers of the Moroccan parliament.

The Hungarian Parliament speaker voiced his country's resolve to promote cooperation with Morocco, which has a privileged position in the Mediterranean, and called Moroccan businessmen to tap the Hungarian market which offers interesting opportunities.
