Arab calls for urgent meetings for the UN Security Council

During the special meeting of the Arab League Council, the Arab ambassadors agreed to assign the secretary general to immediately contact with the Arab foreign ministers and to form a ministerial committee including the foreign ministers of Jordan, Qatar, Russia and Palestine to hold a tour on several world capitals, especially New York Brussels, Beijing and Moscow to support Palestine's request to convene an urgent meeting for the UN Security Council in order to discuss conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This was expressed by Palestine's permanent representative Muhammad Sbeih following the urgent meeting which the AL council last Monday. He said that the Palestinian side called for the need of pulling back immediately the Israeli forces from the occupied Palestinian territories and for an international protection to the Palestinian people. He warned against the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, so as massacres similar to those took place in Kosovo and Bosnia will not take place.

He added that the AL council assigned its secretary general to contact the UN secretary general Kofi Annan to implement what was stated at the AL council statement, especially the immediate pull out of the Israeli forces from the Palestinian territories.
