Lebanese premier receives Morocco's ambassador to Lebanon
Lebanon-Morocco, Politics, 5/17/2001
Lebanese Premier Rafik Hariri received in Beirut Thursday Morocco's ambassador to Lebanon, Abdeljalil Fenjiro.
The Moroccan diplomat told reporters talks covered preparations for the meeting of the Moroccan-Lebanese high joint commission. The meeting, scheduled for June 11-12 in Beirut, has been postponed for more than three months at Hariri's request, Fenjiro said.
Talks also touched on the latest developments in the region and the situation in Lebanon, especially after the Security Council adopted the UN secretary General's report on the reduction of the UN interim force in Lebanon, Fenjiro said.
The High Joint Commission was initially due to meet last April but the meeting was postponed at Morocco's request. The commission, set up in July 1997 during Hariri's official visit to Morocco has not convened yet.
President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon is scheduled to pay an official visit to Morocco next June 13.
