Bush appoints a new ambassador in Damascus

US President George Bush on Wednesday appointed three new American ambassadors in three Arab countries: Syria, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Theodore Kattove who occupied the post of the US ambassador at the United Arab Emirates since 1998 was appointed as an ambassador in Syria. Before that Kattove was the assistant head of the American mission in Saudi Arabia and Syria. Since 1988 until 1992 he occupied the post of the director of office affairs in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

Morin Kene who has been the assistant chairman of the US head of mission in al-Rabat was appointed the US ambassador in Qatar.

The spokeswoman for the US embassy in Cairo Mrs. Mersal Wahbeh since 1999 was appointed as an ambassador in the United Arab Emirates.
