Mauritania's statement on al-Nakbah anniversary

In a statement issued in Nouakchott on Tuesday, the Mauritanian progressive People's Alliance said that "since May 15, 1948, the west- backed Zionist gangs have converted hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to refugees inside Palestine and the Diaspora."

The statement added that "the Zionist entity was established on the remains of the Palestinian people and their expelled people and has become a base for expansion and aggression against the neighboring Arab states."

The statement stressed "these days we do witness a real of extermination against the Palestinian people at the hands of the terrorist Sharon to cut the Palestinian cities and villages into isolated areas, economically and at the security level."

The statements denounced the daily killing and land, sea and air bombardment which target the Palestinians including the self- rule administration.

In its statement, the Progressive People's Alliance expressed the "rejection of the Mauritanian people to recognize the Zionist entity and all forms of relations with it, rather support for the Palestinian Intifada and support for the Arab and Islamic peoples in order to resist the Zionist infiltration."

The statement called on the Mauritanian regime to severe all forms of relations with Israel in response to the demands of the people of Mauritania and in line with the positions adopted by the Arab and Islamic states. It called on all living forces in Mauritania to work for foiling all ties with Israel, regardless to the price.
