Powell to meet with Arafat

The representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization PLO in Washington Hassan Abdul Rahman said on Wednesday that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat will meet with the US secretary of State Colin Powell in Europe during one week or ten days.
Abdul Rahman said that the meeting will take place within one week or ten days in Europe and most expectedly in Paris. He added that Powell informed the Palestinian sides during his meeting in Washington on Tuesday with the secretary general of the PLO executive committee Mahmoud Abbas ( Abu Mazin) that the has realized what is taking place and that it will play an active role in order to put an end to the acts of violence currently taking place between the Palestinians and Israel.
Abdul Rahman explained that Powell and Abu Mazin discussed the Mitchell Committee Report, and the Jordanian - Egyptian initiative and that he hopes that the US will draw a mechanism to implement the recommendations of Mitchell Committee Report as well as the Jordanian- Egyptian initiative.
