Morocco-Ghana to reopen embassies
Morocco-Ghana, Politics, 5/16/2001
Morocco's King Mohammed VI and President John Kufuor of Ghana agreed to reopen their diplomatic representations.
The announcement was made by Ghanaian foreign minister, Hackman Owusu Agyemang in a statement to the Moroccan TV channel 2M, after a meeting Tuesday in the royal palace in Agadir between the king and President Kufuor, who arrived the same day in Morocco for a two-day official visit.
The foreign minister, who is part of the delegation accompanying President Kufuor, said "Ghana wishes and aspires to see Morocco resume the place it deserves in Africa, all the more so as the Organization of African Unity (OAU) came into being thanks to the efforts of the late king Mohammed V, the great Ghanaian leader the late K'Wame N'Krumah and the late emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie."
