Sudan, Politics, 5/16/2001
One of the opposition Sudanese groups has reached an agreement with the government to halt its military operation to the east of the country on the Eritrean- Ethiopian borders and to contribute with the government to rebuilding the damaged areas.
The chairman of the political bureau for the organization of the opposition alliance forces Abdul Aziz Dafa' Allah who split from the forces of Abdul Aziz Khaled said in a statement to the Sudanese daily "al-Sahafi al-Dawli" issued on Tuesday that the agreement of this group with the government came in the framework of the existence of a problem that has been dealt with since several months in the areas in which his forces exist in the areas of the Blue Nile so as to avoid the eruption of confrontation, rather than rebuilding the damaged area from war.
Dafa' Allah explained he will leave for Asmara on Friday to hold talks with the Eritrean authorities to arrange the return back of its cadres (members of his militia ) to Sudan.
Worthy mentioning that Dafa' Allah group was controling an area in the Blue Nile province to the Eastern part of the country and the Sudanese forces restored back this area last month
