Japan supports Egyptian -Jordanian initiative

Japan declared its official support of Egyptian-Jordanian initiative that aims at halting violence and resuming Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.

The Japanese ambassador in Cairo said that he reported the stance of Japanese government to Egypt on Monday and pointed that his government regards the initiative as a new starting point to resume negotiations.

The Japanese ambassador moreover hailed the Egyptian efforts for peace and highlighted that President Hosni Mubarak is playing a great role for realizing peace and stability in the region.

Furthermore, the ambassador pointed that the Palestinian and Israeli sides should implement the various reached and signed agreements including Madrid Conference and Oslo agreement. He added that Japan calls on the two sides to end violence and resume negotiations.
