Regional, Politics, 5/15/2001

The Egyptian foreign minister Amr Moussa's assumption of his new term of office as a secretary general for the Arab League in succession to Ismat Abdul Miguid coincides with the appointment of one of Moussa's aides to the Egyptian foreign ministry, according to a source close to the Egyptian presidency.

The source close to the Egyptian Presidency said that President Hosni Mubarak will appoint the new foreign minister in succession of Moussa during the coming 48 hours.

Worthy mentioning that Moussa who has been Egypt's foreign minister for 10 years was appointed as a secretary general for the AL in succession of Abdul Miguid during the Amman's summit held by the end of March for five year.

Moussa will be the 6th Arab League secretary general since its foundation 55 years ago. Many expects Moussa to make " vast reform operation in the AL."
