Delegation from Kuwaiti senate in Morocco
Morocco-Kuwait, Politics, 5/14/2001
A delegation from the Kuwaiti Umma council (senate), led by chairman of the foreign affairs committee, Mohamed Jassaem Sakr, who is currently visiting Morocco, held this Monday talks with speaker of the Chamber of advisors (upper house of the Moroccan parliament), Mustapha Oukacha.
Head of the visiting delegation hailed Morocco's backing to Kuwaiti security and territorial integrity and voiced the Kuwaiti people's recognition to the efforts made by the late King Hassan II to find a settlement to the issue of Kuwaiti prisoners.
Morocco's drives to definitively settle this issue are prompted by its will to heal the Arab climate, restore Arab unity and enable the peoples of the Arab ummah (nation) face up the problems of development and progress, Oukacha told his Kuwaiti interlocutors.
He also expressed hope that this visit would contribute to promoting bilateral relations, mainly in the economic and political realms.
Jassaem Sakr told Kuwaiti news agency KUNA that the visit is meant to consolidate ties between the two countries' parliamentary institutions.
The Kuwaiti delegation had paid similar visits to Syria, Tunisia and Jordan.
