Mrs. Mubarak hails Shura Council female candidates

Chairwoman of the National Council for Women Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak expressed appreciation for the Shura Council female candidates in the mid-term elections to be held next week and praised their role in backing women participation in the political life. Mrs. Mubarak wished them success in the election process.
This came in the speech delivered by the National Council Secretary General Farkhounda Hassan during the meeting held on Thursday with the female candidates to discuss all obstacles facing them, Farkhounda Hassan in her speech praised the candidates role in backing the concept of political participation.
She pointed that 22 women are running for Shura Council elections and this underlines that Egyptian public opinion trust women and their capability on work and service.
On the other hand, Mrs. Mubarak will chair the African Child Conference due in Cairo on 28-31 May with the participation of African leaders spouses.
The Conference aims at setting up a unified African stance to the private session of UN General Assembly due next September to discuss childhood issues and obstacles hindering development of children and combating epidemic diseases such as AIDS and poverty.
The session will probe as well the responsibility of civil society governments and establishments towards the children. The conference will coincide with the African Committee Conference assigned to discuss the issue of African child in the areas of armed disputes.
Meanwhile, the National Council for Childhood Ambassador Moshira Khattab held on Thursday a meeting with African Ambassadors to brief them on the conference preparations which is organized by the National Conference for Childhood and Motherhood in cooperation with the Organization of African Union and UNICEF.
