Palestine, Politics, 5/12/2001

The secretary general of the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine (general command) Ahmad Jibril has claimed responsibility for sending a shipment of 40 tons of weapons to help the Palestinians in their Initifada on board of a " smuggler Lebanese ship."

In an interview issued on Friday with the German daily " De Fillet," Jibril added that since the eruption of the Intifada three similar shipment arrived its targets and its task is to help the unarmed Palestinians who are under acts of violence by the government of Ariel Sharon.

Jibril added that the aim is not to fear the Israelis, noting that the purpose of the air- to air missiles is to strike the Israeli helicopters which bombard the Palestinian residential areas whereas the aim of the Katyusha missiles is to bombard the Israeli settlements.

He said that as far as the US continues its policy in support of Israel, they will make of themselves targets for resistance and they have to expect all results.
