Morocco, Saudi Arabia sign media cooperation program

Morocco and Saudi Arabia signed in Rabat Thursday a media cooperation program meant to enlarge the scope of cooperation between the audio-visual and written media.
The program, initialed by visiting Saudi minister of information, Fouad Ben Abdessalam El Farrissi, and Moroccan minister of cultural and communication, Mohamed Achaari, provides for cooperation between the two states' radio and TV channels, their news agencies, their written media, in addition to the consolidation of other media activities.
The radio and TV channels will exchange religious and cultural programs, documentary films and entertainment shows and will cooperate in airing sporting events.
The two news agencies "Maghreb Arabe Presse" (MAP) and "Saudi Press Agency" (SPA) will exchange news through modern information technologies, exchange visits and trade expertise in staff training.
The program falls in line with the provisions of the culture and media accord concluded by the two countries in 1966.
El-Farrissi who is currently visiting Morocco for talks with Moroccan officials on means to upgrade bilateral cooperation in the sector held Wednesday a meeting with Moroccan Premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, and visited MAP, the Moroccan radio and TV RTM and the higher institute of information and communication.
