Arafat freezes visit to Damascus

The Qatari daily al-Watan issued on Tuesday quoted a high ranking Palestinian source, refused to be identified as saying that Yasser Arafat has at the meantime frozen his visit to Syria.
The source explained that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority has now strongly relied on the Egyptian- Jordanian initiative and on the possibility of meeting with Sharon in order to come out from the current conditions.
The Palestinian source strongly denied that the Syrian side is responsible for postponing of the visit, noting that the problem lies in Arafat himself.
