Rabat to host Arab conference on copyrights

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will convene the regional conference of the Arab states in Rabat May 15 through 17 on "collective management of copyrights and related rights."
The four-day meeting will discuss legal and technical aspects of the various components of copyrights management, a statement by the Moroccan ministry of culture and communication said.
Several presentations will be made on "copyrights management," "the management of related rights" and "piracy control."
Presentations will also be made on the experiences of Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia in the collective management of copyrights and related rights.
The conference features workshops on "the legal nature and role of beneficiaries in collective management bodies," "the distribution of rights" and "collective management bodies and data."
A plan of regional cooperation and activities will be drawn up at the end of the meeting.
The conference is jointly organized by the Moroccan ministry of culture and communication, the French foreign ministry and the Moroccan Copyrights Board.
