Moroccan-French agriculture cooperation probed

Moroccan-French cooperation in the sector of agriculture was probed at a meeting Monday in Rabat.
Moroccan minister of agriculture, rural development and water and forests, Ismail Alaoui, and French minister of agriculture and fisheries, Jean Glavany discussed agricultural negotiations in the frame of the World Trade Organization and the association accord with the European Union.
The two sides also discussed health security in the two countries mainly regarding the mad cow and the foot and mouth diseases, cooperation in agricultural research and financial cooperation in the agriculture sector through the French Development Agency and French private investments.
The two ministers signed the minutes of the 9th session of the Moroccan-French joint committee that follows up cooperation in agriculture and agri-business that convened in Rabat.
The committee adopted a work program on cooperation in matters of forests, water management, irrigation, cattle health, cattle breeding, agricultural research, partnership between institutions ands enterprises and products quality improvement.
The French minister of agriculture and fisheries who arrived in Morocco Monday is to meet the Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, and the minister of maritime fisheries, Saed Chbaatou.
