Israeli request from the Pope

The al-Quds daily issued in the occupied Palestinian territories said that Israel has asked the Vatican on Friday to seek getting information about the fate of the three Israeli soldiers kidnapped in Lebanon, during the visit of Pope John Paul II to Damascus.
In its issue released on Saturday, the paper added that this request was conveyed through the Papal nuncio in Damascus. However, the officials spokesman for the Pope denied to have prior information about the said Israeli request.
