Very early in history Syria has been outstanding as a land of civilizations and a cradle of religions, where nearly every nation in the world would find roots for its civilization.

On the eastern part of the Mediterranean. The first trace of Homo Sapiens was found in Sit Markho near the coastal city of Lattakia where primitive stones axes were found that date back to around a million years. Here in Syria, the first form of human knowledge, culminated in the Alphabet which expanded knowledge to all the nations of the world.

On the Syrian land, early man discovered basic experience of settling down, agriculture, taming animals. In Syria, man first believed in life, worshiping and art. Here was born the first Alphabet, Kingdoms and states. Thanks to its special geographical finds in palaces, monuments and magnificent works of art that belong to successive civilizations Syria was not just a recipient of the civilizations of others. The process of civilization was never interrupted on the Syrian land which gave birth to most prophets and conquerors.

It also produced legislation, laws, sciences and arts.

Christianity rose in Syria and Saint Paul the Messenger traveled between Jerusalem and Antioch through Damascus and other Syrian cities with his message of love and peace, from where it spread to Europe and to the other parts of the world.
