Sudan is committed to good neighborly relations
Sudan-Eritrea, Politics, 5/5/2001
The official spokesman for the Sudanese armed forces Muhammad Bashir Suleiman has stressed that the Sudanese army is totally committed to the process of good neighborliness and that this army does not provoke others to maintain activities against their own countries.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Sahafa issued on Friday, commenting on what was said by the state- run Eritrea's daily " Modern Eritrea" saying that Eritrean women refused to return back to their country under the pretext that the Sudanese army recruited their children against the government of their country, the Sudanese spokesman said that this statement is totally untrue and that Sudanese- Eritrea relations are continuously developing and that there is also a basic diplomatic effort directed to this end.
Lt. Gen. Suleiman explained that the Sudanese army does not recruit any one who does not have the Sudanese nationality and that there are clear- cut conditions for recruitment in the Sudanese armed forces that can not be violated.
