Call to rethink Moroccan-French cooperation

French foreign affairs minister, Hubert Vedrine, on Wednesday called for rethinking cooperation between Morocco and France to make them better match the excellent political ties between Rabat and Paris.
Relations between Morocco and France are exceptionally dense and good and are constantly adapted to new situations, Vedrine told Moroccan Liberation daily.
The two countries are now working to rethink their cooperation and enlarge them to other new realms, including local councils and civil society organizations, he said.
The French foreign minister also Touched on the failure of fisheries negotiations between Morocco and the European Union and the subsequent deterioration of relations between Madrid and Rabat. France seeks "a balanced agreement with Morocco, respecting the country's sovereignty over its sea resources, and taking into account the Moroccan and European legitimate interests," he said.
