Saudi women' share of current bank accounts

Women in Saudi Arabia own 70% of the current bank accounts including assets of $ 11.5 billion, according to a university study in Saudi Arabia.

The study which is prepared by Saudi university professor Amal al-Teijani said that the Saudi women also own 20% of the shares of public companies and 15% of the private companies and 10% at the real estate sector.

The Saudi daily al-Watan quoted al-Teijani as saying that women in Saudi Arabia also own 34% in the private business sector in al-Riyadh and 25.6% in Jeddah and 5.58% in Mecca.

She added that Jeddah which is the largest trade center in the Kingdom includes 4,000 business women.

Worthy mentioning that according to the law women in Saudi Arabia cam only work in the sector of health and education but they can run private businesses.
